Trump nominates former Rep. Doug Collins for secretary of Veterans Affairs

President Trump has put forth his choice for the next Secretary of Veterans Affairs: former Rep. Doug Collins (R-Ga.).

If confirmed by the Senate, Collins would succeed Robert Wilkie, who resigned in January.

Collins is a West Point graduate and a veteran of the Iraq War. He served in the House from 2013 to 2021.

As a member of the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee, Collins was a vocal critic of the VA’s handling of wait times and other issues.
